Marmalade only exists because your memories deserve somewhere private. This page explains, in normal human words, exactly what we collect and, more importantly, what we never touch.

Nothing you save is shared with anyone unless you explicitly choose to share it.
No ads, no trackers, no data brokers. You're never the product.
Export everything you've saved whenever you like, in one tap.
Ask us to erase your account and it's gone. Properly gone.
Only what the app genuinely needs to work. The email you use for your account, the journal entries, photos and places you choose to save, and a little basic device information (like app version and crash logs) to keep things running smoothly.
We do not ask for, or want, more than that. There is no hidden data grab in the background.
We don't track you across other apps or the web. We don't build advertising profiles. We don't read the contents of your journal, and we don't sell, rent or trade your information to anyone. Marmalade has no ad network, and it never will.
Everything you save is stored securely in the cloud, encrypted in transit and at rest to industry-standard practice. It's never public by default, never shown to other users, and never used to train anything.
Nothing you save is shared with anyone, including us looking at it directly, unless you explicitly choose to share it, for example by turning a trip into a page and sending someone the link. See "Sharing" below.
To run the service we use a small number of trusted providers, like cloud hosting and email delivery for launch messages. They only ever process the minimum needed to do their job, under strict agreements, and never for their own purposes.
When you generate a shareable trip page, the photos, captions and notes you've included on that specific page are sent to Google's Gemini AI to build it, and the photos are checked by an automated content-safety tool before the page can go live. Both only ever see what you've chosen to include on that one page, never your full private journal.
You can access, correct, export or delete your information at any time from within the app or by emailing us. Depending on where you live, laws like the GDPR and CCPA give you these rights explicitly, but honestly, we'd offer them anyway. It's your life. You're in charge of it.
Marmalade isn't designed for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has signed up, let us know and we'll remove it.
If we ever update this policy, we'll change the date at the top and, for anything meaningful, tell you directly rather than burying it. Continued use after an update means you're okay with the new version.
